So I'm surprised how comfortable it is being perpetually underground in Core Keeper. Part of it is the charming art and animation, along with the dynamic lighting effects. The game begins in the gloom of the Core chamber, but place a few torches and clear out some dirt walls with a pickaxe, and soon the room is bathed in warm light.

And there's nothing that makes me feel more at home in a game than fishing, farming, and cooking, and they're all great in Core Keeper. Fishing works almost like a rhythm game, with each fish struggling to its own "beat.

At least in my experience, success depends a lot on getting the timing right. You basically want to trigger an enemy to attack without hitting you, then hit them a few times while they are on cooldown, then repeat.

Aside from selling supplies, the Bearded Merchant sells items that can be used to re-summon certain bosses such as all giant slimes and Ghorm; you simply need to purchase these items and place them on the boss' rune to get them to reappear. I only did the first 3 bosses, which anyone who has played the game will know that that is a fairly small part of the game, and the defeat of the third boss unlocks a good chunk of the game.
